Adrian Martinez Rivas holds a degree in Communications and Electronics Engineering from ESIME at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), Mexico. He earned a Master’s degree in Microelectronics and Microsystems from Université Paul Sabatier in Toulouse, France, where he conducted research at LAAS-CNRS on artificial neural networks applied to solving differential equations in microsystems, providing an early foundation for his research trajectory in artificial intelligence. He subsequently obtained a PhD in Nanobiotechnology from INSA Toulouse and LAAS-CNRS. His doctoral research focused on the micro- and nanofabrication and wafer-scale integration of nanobiosensors based on the quantum phenomenon of Coulomb blockade, involving metallic nanoislands, tunnel junctions, and microfluidics for the direct detection of cancer biomarkers. This work also represents an early foundation for his research in quantum technologies and nanoelectronics. He later broadened his interdisciplinary background with a Master’s degree with honours in Big Data, Marketing and Management from TBS Education, France, and a Master’s degree in Quantum Computing Technology from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Spain, with research projects focused on classical and quantum artificial intelligence, respectively. His current research integrates micro- and nanofabrication, nanoelectronics, nanobiotechnology, artificial intelligence, deep learning, and quantum machine learning, with applications in quantum phenomena, sensors, AFM-based cellular biomechanics, and intelligent data analysis. He is the technical manager of an advanced Raith Pioneer electron-beam lithography (EBL) system for high-resolution micro- and nanofabrication. He has participated in and led international Mexico–France research projects, including ECOS-NORD and a project funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) involving AFM automation, cellular biomechanics, and artificial intelligence. He was the first Latin American to serve on the International Committee of the Micro and Nano Engineering Conference (MNE), has served as Lead Organizer of symposia at the International Materials Research Congress (IMRC), and as Guest Editor for Micromachines.
